Dance Camera Istanbul is an international Dance Film & Dance Photography Festival while ”Seeing Dance Through the Lens” and founded by a group of independent artists and art explorers who are building a greater awareness of multicultural art forms in connection with the field of dance.
The “Dance Camera Istanbul” team aims to encourage emerging artists who are focused on and interested in the artistic and experimental dimension of making dance for the camera. Our main goal is to support and provide collaboration opportunities to filmmakers, dancers, choreographers, photographers, musicians and dance and digital technology explorers.
Our growing philosophy is to create a free space without borders and an artistic environment for sharing, giving, receiving, experiencing and creating through the different perspectives, backgrounds and focuses on making art. We are anticipating in sharing the joy of these creations and presentations of this art form. With this motivation and enthusiasm we seek to include new innovative forms to our young festival as it constantly evolves to include new beginnings and adventures...

Dans Kamera Istanbul ve Dans Platform Istanbul 'un Turkiye'de dans filmleri ve fotografciligi alaninda uretimi tesvik amacli gerceklestirecegi is birligini sizlerle paylasmak isteriz.
Bu proje dogrultusunda; 15 - 22 Eylul 2010 tarihlerinde Cemal Resit Rey Istanbul Konser ve Sergi Salonu binasi, cevresi ve fuayelere kurulacak dört ayrı stüdyo icerisindeki tum ders ve atölyelerde fotoğraf ve video çekimi ve ortaya cikacak uygun urunlerin Kasim ayinin son haftasi boyunca Dans Kamera Istanbul Festivali' nde gosterimi ve sergilenmesi saglanacaktir. Uluslararasi anlasmalar geregi; duyurusu yapilan bu ortak proje Dans Platform Istanbul akşam temsillerini maalesef kapamamaktadir. Ancak, Atölye Sahnesi gösterimleri suresince de sanatçılardan alinan izinler dogrultusunda cekimler gerceklestirilebilecektir.
Dans Kamera Istanbul ve Dans Platform Istanbul projelerinin isbirligi ile sizlere kapilari acilan bu cekim ve uretim imkanini degerlendirmek istiyorsaniz eger;
*kendi hakkinizda ve konuyla baglantili deneyiminizi ve de hangi disiplin dogrultusunda (film-fotograf) projeye dahil olmak istediginizi lutfen 1-2 paragrafi gecmeyecek sekilde onur.topalsumer@dancecamera-istanbul.org adersine email yoluyla bize ulastiriniz.
Toplamda en fazla 15 kisi projeye kabul edilecek olup en gec 8 Eylul 2010 tarihine kadar basvurunuzu yapmaniz onemle rica olunur. Bu surece katilim ucretsiz olup, gerekli arac ve gereclerin katilimcilar tarafindan saglanmasi beklenmektedir. Ancak ihtiyac duyuldugu takdirde katilimcilar arasi teknik malzeme paylasimi konusundaki ihtimallere araci olmak adina ortak ilesim agini kurabilecegimize inaniyoruz. Basvurular dikkatle incelendikten sonra uygun gorulen 15 kisi ile bir sonraki basamak hakkinda irtibata gecilecek ve Dans Platform Istanbul tarafindan saglanacak yaka kartlari ulastirilacaktir.
Ulusal ve uluslararasi anlamda ses getirmis sanatcilari kendi gozunuzden fotograflamak, dans filminizi veya belgeselinizi uretmek istiyorsaniz boylesine onemli ve anlamli bir imkani kacirmamanizi gonulden tavsiye ederiz. Ayrica Dans Kamera Istanbul Festivali'ni takiben yapilacak secki ile urunlerini bu seneki festival isbirlikcilerimizden; Hollanda, Fransa, Avustralya, Kanada, Amerika ve Ingiltere'deki diger seckin dans filmleri festivallerinde de gosterim imkani bulabileceklerdir. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
The “Dance Camera Istanbul” 3rd International Dance Film Festival will be held in Istanbul, Turkey in 2010 winter, focusing on video dance, dance on camera, dance photography and dance film screenings. Dance for camera is a fusion art form combining choreography and filmmaking. “Dance Camera Istanbul” annually showcases international dance films, camera re-works and experimental movement-based films by contemporary video artists and choreographers from student to professional level. There is no restriction on the subject.
The festival supports films which investigate the ongoing search for movement and spaces, both in and out of bodies.
The aim of the festival is to build a community for both dancers and filmmakers to come together, to present and promote both local and cutting edge international works, to share ideas, and to provide a collaborative experience for dancers and filmmakers as they work together to produce the final product.
“Dance Camera Istanbul” also focuses on increasing attention and awareness of the collaborations between dance, film, visual arts and music as well as the different mediums and forms of dance. The goals of “Dance Camera Istanbul” are to offer a proper venue in which to screen and share the works, to encourage and educate student dance filmmakers, to spread the knowledge of dance for camera, and to deepen the understanding of Turkish and international dance film practices through panels, practical workshops, discussions and screenings.
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals and groups who are strongly focused (or want to focus) on dance for camera work, video or multimedia installation collaborations. Examples include video dance, dance documentary, adaptation of a stage work or site specific creation, any kind of artistic and experimental work with kinesthetic energy and rhythmic design, and choreographic works that are created specifically for the lens of the camera and include a well- planned editing process. We invite you to be part of the “Dance Camera Istanbul Festival” family. Accepted works will be screened in various venues in Istanbul, throughout Turkey and at the sister event Cinematic Lounge Series. In attendance will be Turkish and international dancers, filmmakers, musicians, photographers, artists and students, as well as both national and international audiences. During the festival, we will organize discussions between the artists, filmmakers and audience after the screenings.
The deadline is September 10, 2010.
Dance Film Workshops and Lectures/Panels
The workshops will be directed by acclaimed national and international dance and video artists, filmmakers and choreographers who will introduce different approaches to camera, dance and movement as well as providing information about video dance history, archives and links for further research. The workshops will take place at several dance studios and stages as well as access to indoor and outdoor spaces for filming. During the festival month, there will be national and international lectures serious on the dance camera work and the related fields. If you are interested in honoring us with your presence and lecture, please contact with us in regards to your possible topic. It would be our pleasure to start and organize a growing artistic environment and relationship.
